Estate Planning

Our Practice

Pedersen's Estate Planning practice offers a full array of customized, transactional estate planning services, including basic wills and trusts, and generation-skipping tax transfers. Our lawyers have extensive experience developing sophisticated estate plans for high net worth individuals and families in order to conserve their assets for succeeding generations.

We spend time with clients to understand and identify their personal, family, and business objectives. We then respond with customized, strategic estate plans that minimize tax consequences while meeting long-range client goals. We can tailor specialized trusts, family limited partnerships, and limited liability companies to meet our clients' specific needs.

Pedersen's Wealth Preservation lawyers collaborate with colleagues within the firm to develop effective solutions to the myriad basic and complex tax planning issues that affect estate plans.

We represent estate fiduciaries, beneficiaries, individual heirs, and creditors in complex probate issues such as will contests, contests to admit copies of wills, complex heirship proceedings, will construction suits, and citation proceedings involving diverted assets. Our experience extends to petitioning the court on behalf individual and corporate trustees to create wills for disabled adults.

Our Experience

  • Represented the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors of a Fortune 500 company in negotiating and drafting a $15 million split-dollar life insurance agreement with the company's CEO.
  • Advised a retiring director of a Fortune 500 company to enter into a life insurance split-dollar arrangement between a Rabbi Trust and Dynasty Trusts, which froze the value of the rabbi trust and allowed significant wealth transfer to our client's descendants that was free of income and estate taxes.
