In Memory of Pedersen & Houpt Partner, John J. Hayes

March 2026

In Memoriam: John J. Hayes (1958 - 2026)

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our colleague and friend, John Hayes, leader of Pedersen & Houpt’s Wealth Preservation Practice Group.

John was an exceptional attorney and certified public accountant whose practice focused on estate planning, probate, trust administration, and tax matters. He was known for his ability to develop thoughtful, sophisticated strategies tailored to each client’s unique goals, and for guiding individuals and families through complex estate matters.

In addition to his work with clients, John was a teacher, writer, and speaker on estate and gift tax issues. He was generous with his time and knowledge, and he made a meaningful impact on colleagues, clients, and the broader community.

John will be remembered for his professionalism and commitment to those he served. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew him.
